• Do you accept insurance patients?

Yes, we accept patients who are covered by Bupa, Nuffield, CIGNA, Simply Health, AVIVA. If your insurance isn't listed here then get in touch as we are constantly adding to the list of insurance companies we work with.

  • Will I have to undress?

Not if you don't want to. It's easier for us to assess your posture and movement if you undress to your underwear, or bring a pair of shorts and a t-shirt or strap top to change into. However, we'll never ask you to do something you're uncomfortable with so just let us know when you come for your appointment that you'd rather not.

  • Will you 'click' or 'crack' my joints?

Not if you don't want us to. 'Clicking' joints, or manipulation as we call it, is a very quick and effective way to increase range of movement and relieve pain in joints which have become 'stuck'. The clicking noise comes from gas releasing in the fluid that lines your joints, and it is exactly the same thing that happens when you click your knuckles. We will never do this technique without your permission or if we think it is inappropriate. For this reason we ask that you are completely honest when we ask you questions about your medical history so we can make sure our treatment is exactly right for you.

  • What's the difference between physiotherapy and osteopathy?

The answer to this question is 'it depends'. Our physiotherapists and osteopaths work in the same way, no matter who you see they will look at your posture, movements, and lifestyle to design a completely individual treatment plan. They work with the muscles, joints and ligaments to get you fighting fit and will most likely give you a home exercise routine to follow as part of your rehab plan. 

  • Are physiotherapy and osteopathy safe?

Physiotherapy and osteopathy are both very safe treatments and our practitioners are highly trained to know which treatment techniques to use. We take a detailed case history from you the first time we meet to see if there are any techniques which aren't going to work for you, and there's always an alternative. For this reason we ask that you are honest when we ask you questions about your medical history, it is important for us to know things like whether you have osteoporosis, if you're pregnant or it you had heart surgery last year (you'd be surprised what people forget to mention!).

  • Can I have a free consultation?

We offer 30 minute free initial consultations to Fitness First members, to give you a chance to find out what we can do for you, and which of our team is best equipped to deal with your problem. This offer is available to every Fitness First member, new or old, so take advantage!
